The Entwistle Company and our Danville Division (formerly Lockley MFG Group) have supported the Department of Defense, as well as other major Defense Contractors such as Boeing, Aerojet, Honeywell, General Dynamics and Raytheon, with Ordnance Programs since the World War II era.
Involvement in these ordnance programs has helped us to develop innovative manufacturing techniques and diversify and expand our in-house capabilities while giving us the competitive edge to insure on time delivery and excellent product quality for our customers.
Utilizing dedicated equipment and designing specialized tooling enables Entwistle to manufacture ordnance equipment within our facility and manage all processes and procedures from planning to final shipment.
These sub-contract programs are primarily for build to print equipment in volume quantities, and we have participated in a wide range of products. These legacy programs include Walleye, Zuni, Sidewinder and Shrike fins, Grenade launchers, Destructor Mines, Ballistic Aerial Targets and Combined Effects Munitions. Current programs include JDAM and MK-48 Torpedo components.
As a subcontractor to The Boeing Company, Entwistle’s Danville Division manufactures the tail fairings for the JDAM family of guided bombs. This includes the MK82, MK83 and MK84. The plant also produces tail fins for the MK82 JDAM.
The production rate for JDAM tail fairings is several thousand units per month. Danville has established a consistent record of meeting scheduled delivery dates with quality products that meet Boeing’s specification requirements. Danville is a Silver Certification Supplier to the JDAM Program.
Entwistle has been involved in the manufacture of wire coils for the U.S. and select foreign Navies since the 1960’s, starting with the MK-37 and continuing with the MK-48 Torpedoes. These weapons are wire guided, with the connection allowing the weapon to be controlled over long distances.
